It’s simple. But since it’s been a few years since the web site has been around, let’s go through the nitty gritty of the whole process.
The basics
The way it works is: every Secret Santa will get a Secret Pal. The Secret Pals are who the Secret Santas give a gift to. Secret Santas cannot be assigned a Secret Pal from the home they live in (because you’ll probably already be exchanging gifts with them). And, you won’t get the same person you had last year. Now, there are a limited number of people to match up, so somethimes those rules two might get blurred (hasn’t happened yet, but it could).
Shhhhh!
Don’t tell anyone who your Secret Pal is. There aren’t a lot of Secret Santas, so the more people who tell others who they have, the more likely people will start figuring out who has them.
On Christmas day you’ll give your Secret Pal your gift (of course, right?). But, you have the option of sending your Secret Pal little surprises in the mail, like cards, small gifts, etc. That is not mandatory, but make a really great Secret Santa.
Sign up for the Secret Santa gift exhange before 5 pm Eastern on November 6th.
Wait
Your secret pal won’t get assigned instantly. Everyone has to sign up frst. Then, the computer has to do it’s thing and figure out who is in, who lives with who, create the database for the match up, and the site gets updated to the “come get your Secret Pal” version.
Find out
Once everything is all set, you’ll get an email saying to come up and get your Seceret Pal info. You’ll come here. You will be given a PIN code, so only you can get your Secret Pal info. Come to the site, enter your Info and Pin, and voilà, your’ Secret Pal info will be revealed.
Be the Santa
Then, you just go off and do your thing as Secret Ssanta. Get the gift. Send surprises, if you want to, be there at Christmas.
